The Rotary Club of North Hobart's falls prevention campaign has been featured in the May/June 2026 edition of Rotary Down Under. The article explores how the club's 28-Day Steady on Your Feet Challenge translated awareness into action — through community conversation tables at New Town Plaza, free balance checks, an evidence-based presentation from Professor Michele Callisaya, and partnerships with Calvary Community Care, COTA Tasmania, and the Menzies Institute for Medical Research.

RCNH Featured on Channel 7 News — Recycle Rewards First Anniversary
The Rotary Club of North Hobart had a moment in the spotlight on 7 News, as members Adam Reibel and Roslyn Teirney joined a media event marking the first anniversary of Tasmania's Recycle Rewards container refund scheme. The on-screen graphic identified Adam as a representative of the North Hobart Rotary Club, alongside other guests including representatives from TOMRA Cleanaway and the Minister for Environment's office. The scheme has been a huge success across Tasmania, with more than 118 million containers returned and over $310,000 donated to charities in its first year — and it's great to see RCNH's "Recycle for Good" partnership recognised on a state-wide stage.

​Rotary South Pacific Zone Conference 2026 — Line-Up Announced
Excitement is building for the People. Planet. Peace. conference in Melbourne (30 October – 1 November 2026). The event will feature Rotary International President-Elect Larry Lunsford and Past Rotary International President Gordon McInally, with the Planet theme led by Bridget Teirney, exploring environmental stewardship as an expression of community care and long-term resilience. RCNH members are encouraged to register early.

DV Safe Phone Donations Driven Across Australia
Rotary clubs nationwide continue to support the DV Safe Phone initiative, which collects, refurbishes, and gifts mobile phones to domestic violence survivors. DV Safe Phone is aiming to reach 20,000 donated devices by 2026 and now operates through more than 1,100 collection partners nationwide. RCNH's own DV Safe Phone Project launch (Maypole Hotel, 9 June) adds Hobart's voice to this growing movement.

Hot August Jazz: 20 Years of Putting North Hobart on the Map
The Hot August Jazz Festival, organised by the Hobart Jazz Club, has been celebrated in Rotary Down Under as a vibrant fixture that has put North Hobart on the map for two decades. More than 250 musicians, from seasoned professionals and community groups to up-and-coming school bands, showcase the depth of Tasmanian talent across the festival, held annually on the last Sunday in August. Across 10 venues, all within easy walking distance, audiences can immerse themselves in a diverse spectrum of jazz genres — from classic Dixieland and mainstream swing to contemporary blues, funk and modern improvisations — with more than 400 performances held from midday to midnight, and entry is free for all. RCNH is proud to support this much-loved community celebration on our doorstep.

World Polio Day: Adam Reibel Writes for The Mercury on Rotary's Fight to End Polio
Rotary Club of North Hobart President Elect Adam Reibel marked World Polio Day with a Talking Point opinion piece in the Hobart Mercury, reflecting on Rotary International's decades-long campaign to eradicate polio — now confined to just two countries, with only 38 cases recorded this year. Adam highlighted the legacy of Australian past Rotary International president Sir Clem Renouf, whose vision launched the PolioPlus program, and shared the story of Claremont Rotarian Colin Richardson, who lives with the effects of polio contracted as a child. The piece also showcased other Rotary achievements across Tasmania, from malaria eradication in Timor-Leste to the Food Plant Solutions Rotary Action Group and the Rotary Youth Driver Awareness program.
