Youth Service at Rotary North Hobart: Building Futures, Right Here
Youth leadership, student development and community engagement programs in Hobart and Southern Tasmania
At Rotary North Hobart, we believe that investing in young people is one of the most effective ways to build a stronger, more connected community.
Through our Youth Service programs, we work alongside schools, families, community organisations and young leaders to create opportunities that help young Tasmanians develop confidence, leadership skills, resilience, community awareness and a sense of belonging.
From primary school students discovering the value of service, to secondary students participating in leadership programs, scholarships and community projects, Rotary North Hobart is committed to helping young people reach their full potential.

Building Belonging and Social CohesionYoung people thrive when they feel safe, valued and connected.
Rotary North Hobart supports initiatives that promote inclusion, intercultural understanding, respect and belonging. Working alongside schools and community organisations, we help create opportunities for young people to contribute ideas, develop solutions and make a positive difference in their communities.
Our projects encourage young people to become active citizens while fostering understanding between people from different backgrounds and experiences.
Recognising Achievement and ServiceCelebrating achievement is an important part of youth development.
Throughout the year, Rotary North Hobart recognises students who demonstrate leadership, perseverance, community service and personal growth. By acknowledging these contributions, we encourage young people to continue pursuing their goals and contributing positively to society.
Creating Opportunities Through Community PartnershipsMany of our youth initiatives are made possible through partnerships with schools, businesses, community organisations, local government and other Rotary clubs.
These collaborations help us expand opportunities for young people while ensuring our programs remain relevant, accessible and sustainable.
Looking to the FutureYouth Service continues to be one of the most active and rewarding areas of Rotary North Hobart's community work.
As the needs of young people continue to evolve, we remain committed to supporting programs that build skills, confidence, leadership and connection.
By working together with schools, families and community partners, we aim to help young Tasmanians discover opportunities, develop their talents and realise their potential.
So now you know why our members love the Rotary Club of North Hobart. At North Hobart, you do not just join a club; you join a powerful force for good in your local community. We roll up our sleeves for specific initiatives that create lasting impact in North Hobart, New Town, Cornelian Bay, Lenah Valley, and beyond.
By investing in the next generation, we provide local youth with the resources, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive.
Sailing to Success: The Windeward Bound We proudly supported the original construction of the Windeward Bound sail training ship and continue to fund youth scholarships for local students. These scholarships provide young people from our community with transformative leadership, teamwork, and adventure voyages.
- The Opportunity: Hands-on maritime mentoring that fosters lifelong confidence, resilience, and community connection.
- Who it’s for: Local students and young adults looking to build leadership skills outside the classroom.
Every project we take on is backed by the genuine connection of our members, making the work enjoyable and deeply rewarding.
