CONFEREnce catchups - our members meeting with mainland colleagues
District 9830 members were fortunate to be invited to District 9815's conference in Hobart from 13-15 March. Thank you to the Rotary Club of North Hobart members who participated. PRID John, Chris, Ben, Ros and Ralph enjoyed The Rotary Foundation breakfast where our friend David Brill AM ACS was guest speaker. Howie and Tara both worked on the Rotarians Against Malaria stall in the House of Friendship and Ros was on the Zone Conference stall. Heather and David enjoyed taking it all in.
GOLD COAST Rotary south pacific zone conference
President Elect Adam was a speaker at the Rotary South Pacific Zone Conference on the Gold Coast. He had the opportunity to speak directly with CEO and General Secretary John Hewko and Rotary International President Elect Yinka Babalola, as well as networking with many other Under 45s. RoAD trip to deloraine - thanks, rotary club of North Hobart!
Deloraine was the location for Rotary District 9830's Training Assembly on Sunday 30 April. The Rotary Club of North Hobart was represented that day by outgoing president, Marnie Hill, incoming president, Angela Holzberger, and incoming Public Image District Director, Roslyn Teirney.
Included are some shots on the way up, the way back and when Martin and Marnie "ducked" out to have a little photo shoot by the Meander River.
Thanks to our professionally trained driver, Private Marnie, for keeping us safe from all forseeable risks.
Moral of the story: Join Rotary, if only for the road trips!

"Meeting the Community: North Hobart Rotary Showcasing Our Local Impact"
On 25 March 2023, all available Rotary clubs supported the District Governor, Bob Calvert's call to gather at Princes Wharf Shed No 1 and showcase our Rotary programs to the general public. We were among those who took part, with our volunteers spread over a number of different locations on the day.
Here are some of the moments from a busy couple of days, with most of these photographs taken by our talented club member, Paul Guo. Thank you to all who represented the club.

"Luck of the Irish: Generations of North Hobart Rotary Mark St. Paddy’s Day"
Rotary Club of North Hobart members have been working hard on many different projects recently, so a break for socialising was programmed for St Patrick's Day. The scene was set with President Brian's magnificent photos from his most recent trip to Ireland. We also thank Mark Heyward (musician) and Marilyne Jackson (dancer) for entertaining us and Paddy McGroarty for donating the booklets containing words of Irish songs. Rotarians came dressed appropriately with an array of green and flashes of orange featuring in the costumes chosen. Paul Guo took more than a hundred photos, from which we are proud to share below. Thank you, Paul.
"Growing Our Impact: Welcoming the Newest Faces of North Hobart Rotary"
The Rotary Club of North Hobart's Strategic Plan, published in 2020, set an ambitious goal that we should grow by ten members each year. We inducted Effie Flaskas in June last year, then Pam Dennis and Kitty Kruup in August and Hilde de Bruto, Jeff Blakeley, Marnie Hill, Louise Bloomfield and Paul Daniels in the month of February. We may reach the target of ten yet! It is our aim to keep up the diversity in our club so that we all have interesting conversations and fellowship during meetings.
"End of an Era: Honoring Decades of Fellowship at the Har Wee Yee"
When we heard the news that the club's much-loved home away from home, the Har Wee Yee Restaurant, was closing, our club decided to have our end of year celebration there. A wonderful Chinese banquet enabled many club members to come together and enjoy fellowship and wonderful service. Besides our own Lucky Door Prize, Ruby and Trevor also gave four prizes out themselves, all of which were won by Rotarians. The end of an era!
Ian Geard bidding farewell to Nina Huang, who is moving to another Rotary club in the New Year. Lucky Door Prizewinners included Denis Savell and Rod Batchelor.
Thank you to the Lee family for the warm hospitality over 52 years. Our club presented Ruby and Trevor with a bouquet of flowers, but unfortunately things were so busy at that point we could not get a picture for posterity.
"Leading Through Change: A Significant Visit to the Black Buffalo"

Thank you to Mike Quinn of R C Glenorchy for acting as our photographer.
