Sunday 30 June was our Rotary Tasmania District Changeover when 2018-19 District Governor Ross Carlyle summed up the "Be the Inspiration" year and welcomed new District Governor Michael Cooke to lead District 9830. On the day, Rotary Club of North Hobart was represented by Past Rotary International Director Dr John Thorne, Shirley Thorne, PE Roslyn Teirney and Ralph Teirney. PRID John introduces PE Roslyn to the audience and kindly tells them how long we have known each other through Rotary. Shirley and John pictured arriving at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania. The Thornes sponsor an award to encourage Rotary clubs in Tasmania to actively contribute to The Rotary Foundation. PE Roslyn has just completed a year working as District Secretary and editing DG Ross's weekly O&N Newsletter. She is pictured after receiving a sapphire pin for her Paul Harris Fellow badge. Past Rotary International Director, Dr John Thorne and his wife Shirley present the John and Shirley Thorne Award to Rotary Club of Sandy Bay. The award, for the most active club in contributing to The Rotary Foundation, was accepted by President Bob Calvert while District Governor Ross Carlyle watches proudly on. In the new Rotary year PE Roslyn will continue to serve as District Secretary, working for DG Michael. The toughest part of the job is out of the way now. I hope everyone enjoys their District Directories. Michael and Corrina Cooke will visit the Rotary Club of North Hobart on Tuesday 30 July and they warmly invite partners to join Rotarians on this occasion. President David Emmett and Heather Emmett (pictured working at the Greek Festival) appear in the 2019-20 District Directory to promote End Polio Now.
