CAN YOU HELP JOSHUA& LUCAS? Joshua (12 years) and Lucas (9 years) are two beautiful boys who have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) – a progressive disease. They will lose functions such as: mobility, eating, speaking, experience weakening heart muscles and, eventually, have breathing difficulties. Life is short with expectancy at most, 20 – 30 years. They also are affected by Autism.
Michael and Yasna Baric, parents to the two boys, are full time carers. Their lives are put on hold while they care for the boys and maintain some normality in lives shaped by the advancing disease. Rotary Tasmania hopes to raise $15,000 towards a hydrotherapy pool and spa for Joshua & Lucas. Hydrotherapy can improve mobility, strength, flexibility and cardiopulmonary fitness for children with muscle wasting (such as DMD) (Hind et al., 2017). The money will be matched 100% by RACG. Donations are tax deductible and can be made via https://donations.rawcs.com.au/124-2017-18
